Vintage Notes
The 2023 grape harvest in Napa Valley followed a cool, wet winter and spring that set the stage for an unusually long growing season. Mild summer temperatures slowed vine development, delaying ripening and extending harvest well into October and, in some cases, November. This extended hang time allowed grapes to develop balanced sugars, fresh acidity, and complex aromatics. Vineyard conditions remained largely healthy, with few major heat spikes. Yields were generally average to slightly above average, contributing to strong overall production. Winemakers across the valley widely praised the quality of the 2023 vintage, calling it memorable and predicting exceptional wines.

"Deep garnet in hue, this Cabernet unfurls with generous, layered aromatics of dried fine herbs and a soft, sage-like lift that adds aromatic depth and intrigue. On the palate, ripe cherry fruit blooms with richness, joined by subtle notes of lightly toasted bread and a hint of savory warmth that enhance the wine’s opulence.
The mouth begins with a flood of youthful tannins that are full yet finely textured, enveloping the palate. It creates a broad, mouth-coating mid-palate that feels both expansive and seamless, filling the entirety of palate, upper and lower, with ease. The finish is long and luxurious, carried by polish and balance, lingering gracefully for well over a minute with a sense of depth and composure.
I believe aged correctly this to be a 10 to 15 year wine, or beyond. Comprised of 85% Cabernet from Star Vineyard, Rutherford and 14% White Satin Vineyard Cabernet Franc, Carneros, 175 cases were produced. 70% new French Oak for 22 months, bottled unfiltered and unfined."
