Vintage Notes
The 2023 grape harvest in the Atlas Peak AVA of Napa Valley was defined by a long, even growing season shaped by a cool, wet start followed by steady, moderate summer conditions. Elevated mountain sites experienced slower ripening, allowing Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varieties to develop deep color, firm structure, and refined tannin integration. The extended hang time preserved natural acidity while building layered fruit concentration. Harvest unfolded later than average, but conditions remained stable, producing fruit with excellent balance, purity, and the hallmark intensity associated with Atlas Peak’s high-elevation volcanic soils and rugged vineyard terrain.

Winemaker Notes
"The 2023 vintage was outstanding! From such a blessed vintage has emerged 2023 Privity, made with with fruit from the rocky volcanic slopes of Atlas Peak, with a finishing touch of fruit from the valley floor. This very limited production Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the power and elegance of two iconic Napa Valley vineyards. With only five barrels produced, it is a fine expression of detail in small-lot winemaking.
Deep garnet in color, the wine opens with captivating aromas of blackberry, cassis, black cherry, graphite, cocoa, cedar, and baking spice. The palate is rich and full-bodied, layered with dark fruits, bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and subtle mineral notes. Stagecoach contributes bold structure and intensity, while valley floor fruit adds refined texture and classic Rutherford elegance, creating a wine of exceptional depth and complexity.
Aged 22 months in 80% new French oak, the oak beautifully frames the fruit without overwhelming it. The finish is long, polished, and remarkably persistent. A tribute to exceptional viticulture and thoughtful craftsmanship, this Cabernet will reward three to five years of additional cellaring and continue to evolve gracefully for 15 years or more.
Bottled unfiltered and unfined. 147 cases produced." ~ Kirk Venge
